Do you automatically get notified when a server / PBX goes 'down'?
Don't wait for a massive emergency. Plan now and avoid having to explain to your clients why you didn't know their system was down and why they lost so many calls. With our monitoring solution, you can seamlessly monitor your Asterisk based voice servers and be notified by SMS and electronic mail if we can't reach your server. It's simple and smart!
How does it work?
You add our server into your iax.conf file and register your Asterisk server with us via the IAX protocol. (If for some reason you need to use SIP, we will be happy to accommodate that as well.) We then check our server every 10 minutes to make sure that your server is registered with us. If it isn't, we send you alerts.
What happens when there is a fault?
Our service sends an email to your specified email address or, if you have specified more than one email address, all the addresses on the list. If you have credits and have specified a mobile number, we will send an SMS message to you as well. Clients who require immediate action can combine our monitoring service with one of our service level agreements which means one of our technicians will react quickly to the automated alert and start working on the problem - the ultimate in responsiveness!
Why is this the best method of server monitoring?
This method checks that your server and its software are working properly as well as your network connection. Our solution monitors multiple points of failure. A fault could mean that your server, the Asterisk daemon or your network connection has failed. Our solution is an 'end to end' one; it checks all the components that can fail.
Will it tell me if subscription to one of my service providers fails?
Some clients want to be alerted if their SIP or IAX registrations fail. (This can be due to either voice or internet service provider related failures.) Our standard remote monitoring product does not monitor remote registrations, however we have a premium service where our servers can check individual registrations from your server to your chosen service providers. Our standard remote monitoring product will meet the requirements of most people as it checks the three things that are most likely to fail (servers, software and networks). If you are interested in our premium service please call us on +61 3 8888 5361.
How much does it cost?
The cost of the service is AU$2.95 per month for your first server and then AU$1.95 per month for every subsequent server. The monthly fee includes unlimited email alerts. You will need to pre-purchase the service in a 3, 6 or 12 month block. In addition, if you want to be alerted by SMS, a charge of AU$0.20 per message is applied to each message and you will need to pre-purchase in blocks of 10 messages.
Payment is either via credit card or direct deposit into our bank account. Once payment has been cleared, we will setup the remote monitoring and perform some initial testing.
Feel free to contact our sales department if you would like to know more about solutions for companies which require complex monitoring solutions.
What else do I need to know?
- This solution is most likely not going to be suitable for clients using Asterisk in mission critical applications (such as emergency call centres). For those type of applications you will need to use one of our premium services.
- We use a business grade internet connection with business grade hardware. Whilst we make every effort to ensure availability of this service, from time to time we will need to perform maintenance which will temporarily prevent us from monitoring your server or there may be unscheduled outages which impact on ability to alert you to a failure in a timely manner.
- Our SMS providers are business grade SMS providers. However, they may still from time to time fail to deliver a message within our desired notification window. Please also note that mobile networks do not provide a guaranteed medium for delivery of notifications.
- You should consider if this product is going to meet your needs and satisfy yourself (for example by trialling the service before moving it into production) as to the suitability of our solutions for your situation.
- You should be familiar with our terms and conditions.
